My name is Cassandra (Cassie for short) Campagna and this is my first year at TCEA. I was born in West Point, New York but I grew up mostly here in Fayetteville (I'm an army brat!) I went to UNC Charlotte where I majored in Child and Family Development and minored in Children's Literature and Childhood Studies. I was actually able to study children's literature abroad at King’s College in London! This is my first year teaching, but during my time in college, I had a variety of opportunities to teach and work with children; I was a nanny, a classroom aide, interned in a children’s hospital, and student taught in a self-contained pre-k classroom.
I'm so excited to be back in Fayetteville not only to teach, but also to be close to my family again - my parents, two sisters, brother-in-law, and grandmother all live in Fayetteville and we are all very close! I am not the first educator in my family either - both of my grandparents were Special Ed teachers, my mom was a math teacher, and my dad was a professor for a time. Although my sisters are not teachers, they both work with children as well - one is a counselor and one is a pediatric nurse!
It is such a wonderful opportunity to be a new member of the TCEA family this year! My goal is to create a safe, loving, and positive learning environment for every child. I experienced both ends of the spectrum when it came to teachers and school when I was young - I hope to leave a positive impression on each child, not of myself, but of the joys of learning. Looking back, my favorite teachers, if not immediately, always ended up being the ones who pushed me to be my best (even when I didn't want them to), believed that I could be my best, and opened my mind and heart to living a life of nonstop learning. Join me on my adventure to do the same for each child in my class - it takes a village!
